Light House Children’s Home

Light House

At Light House, we provide a safe and caring home for children aged between 10 and 17 years who may have experienced social, emotional and mental health challenges.


Location: Oldham, Lancashire
Age range: 10 - 17
SEMH, Autism, Specific Learning Difficulties and Mental Health Needs.

PACE Approach

Light House in Oldham, is a nurturing home led by highly-experienced managers and with a strong, vibrant team, each of whom bring their own specialisms, including sport, mental health and outdoor activities.

We help children feel safe, cared for and give them plenty of space to grow, develop their passions and to have fun.  With us, children build resilience. We support them to be active in the local community and to enjoy and engage with educational and vocational activities. Our aim is to promote independence as well as supporting children in their rehabilitation and recovery.

Affinity Childrens Home Ltd use the PACE approach to support the learning and social and emotional wellbeing of the children and young people we care for.

Activities

The young people at Light House can choose to take part in lots of different sorts of activities.They might be informal activities like meeting a friend, or they might be planned activities like being part of a sports team or going to the cinema. There might also be group activities that more than one person living at Light House might take part in, either at the home or outdoors. Young people help plan the activities they want to take part in.

Some of the sorts of activities include going swimming, hiking, to the cinema, bowling, visiting local parks, ice skating, playing football and other sports, enjoying meals and the opportunity to be involved in local groups. There are bike riding, shopping, learning new skills, beauty and spa treatments, parks and playgrounds in the vicinity. Young people can also take part in hobbies and interests they may have such as dancing, gymnastics, singing, music, model making, horse riding, fishing and many more.
